The Luxury Bag (2022)
The luxury handbag, or a vessel for conspicuous consumption. Noticing the odd intersection of the luxury handbag as both an item of status and a functional good, I decided to create a bag that plays on these intersections to highlight elements of elitism, consumption, and class.
Looking toward the sharp lined bags in the luxury space, I cold worked this bag from aluminum and galvanized steel cable. Hand punched circular “monograms” continue to play on the themes of conspicuous consumption, questioning how and where value is derived.
Only functional if you show off your possessions.
